






Students use their laptops or tablets to access digital textbooks, do presentations, learn programming, and research material for their classes. Students also have access to our digital library.
Students interested in entering universities outside Canada may enroll to take specialized TOEFL, ACT, and SAT prep courses through the APEX Learning Center after school.
SIS Canada provides personalized University Guidance to all enrolled secondary students. This includes course selection, field specific university research, and application to university. Guidance is available in English, French, Chinese, and Korean.
Extra-curricular private lessons such as music lessons, community sports teams, and foreign languages may be arranged at the parent’s request.
VIS operates a BC Offshore School Program in South Korea. We also have contact with other BC Offshore schools around the world. Should a student need to return to their home country, there are opportunities for the continuation of their education.
VIS’s Enhanced Student Care Program provides supplementary personalized after school care and regular feedback to parents.
Active Learning
Each student is required to be a part of at least one organized sports activity per semester. Sports help students develop leadership, teamwork, commitment, and responsibility. It is also an important part of healthy living.
There are opportunities for students to canoe, kayak, hike, orienteer, and participate in outdoor sports clubs.
VIS endeavors to create as many opportunities in the community as possible. This may include friendly sports games with other schools, collaborative projects with schools in the area, cultural exchanges, and more.
Regular field trips and hands on experience are a vital part of learning at VIS. Students learn much better when they have the opportunity to see and try things. As part of planning for the future VIS offers visits to universities to support more informed decisions.
VIS students are taught to be accountable for the actions they choose to take. This may be in the form of following school rules, keeping up with assignments and due dates, or social behavior. All tasks and guidelines at VIS are clearly laid out for students to follow.
VIS Leadership Club students organize and run school events and are the backbone of the school community. The Leadership Club gives students the tools and experience to become future global leaders.
VIS endeavors to find volunteer and work experience opportunities as per student interests. Volunteering and work experience may also take place during vacations in the student’s hometown or country.
VIS is a campus removed from the city and negative social influences such as drugs and alcohol. Exposure to these elements that may be present in a homestay or a large city environment are eliminated while studying at VIS.
VIS is located outside the city area, surrounded by lakes and trees. This provides students with a safe, clean, healthy environment where they can learn and play. VIS has an endless number of opportunities for education and activities in nature.
