Technology Education
Schools must give students the skills and knowledge they need to be able to influence their future. HCIS Sokcho Technology Education Class supports students’ technological literacy, i.e. understanding how the world around us is constructed from a technological point of view. The Technology Education Class is a model suitable for different grade levels, where the projects form a consistent thread for learning.
학교는 학생들에게 자신의 미래에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 데 필요한 기술과 지식을 제공해야 합니다. HCIS Sokcho 기술 교육 수업은 학생들의 기술 활용 능력, 즉 기술적인 관점에서 우리 주변 세계가 어떻게 구성되어 있는지 이해하도록 지원합니다. 기술 교육 수업은 프로젝트가 학습을 위한 일관된 스레드를 형성하는 다양한 학년 수준에 적합한 모델입니다. 이는 주제를 의미 있는 방식으로 결합하는 교육학적 연속체입니다. 프로젝트는 때때로 한 학년에서 다른 학년으로 계속되면서 학생의 기술에 따라 발전할 수 있습니다.
Digital Education
At HCIS Sokcho, we consider Chromebooks or laptops as important tools for learning. They serve as digital libraries and access mediums for studying key subjects and homework. We encourage students to regularly use them in class, to get useful information for homework, and as tools for reading practice at home. To ensure responsible use of technology, students are expected to follow HCIS Sokcho's guidelines mentioned in the Student Handbook.
HCIS Sokcho uses the RAZ-Kids program as its digital library. For home study of English, math, and science, we use IXL, an online program widely used in American schools. In addition, we use various educational apps for each subject to increase class efficiency.
HCIS Sokcho에서는 디지털 도서관과 주요 과목의 학습, 숙제에 대한 접근 매체 역할을 하는 중요한 학습 도구로 크롬북 또는 노트북을 사용합니다. 크롬북 또는 노트북은 수업 시간에 지속적으로 사용되며, 숙제에 유용한 정보를 제공하고, 집에서 읽기 연습을 위한 도구로도 사용됩니다. 학생들은 노트북과 같은 기술과 관련하여 학생 핸드북에 있는 HCIS Sokcho의 지침을 준수합니다.
HCIS Sokcho에서는 디지털 도서관으로 RAZ-Kids 프로그램을 사용하고 있습니다. 영어, 수학, 과학 가정학습을 위하여 미국학교에서 많이 사용하는 온라인 프로그램 IXL을 사용하고 있습니다. 이 외에도 수업의 효율성을 높이기 위하여 과목별로 다양한 교육용 앱을 사용하고 있습니다.
Enhanced English Reading Program
It is widely known that there are four major areas of learning English: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Listening and speaking skills can be improved over time with exposure to the language environment. However, reading and writing skills require practice and training to develop. Reading books is not only a great way to acquire knowledge but also to improve one's reading ability and fluency. Reading ability is a crucial competency that underpins all studies. To develop English reading skills, it is essential to combine reading training through online reading programs with a process of reflection while reading paper books.
Therefore, at HCIS Sokcho, we teach our students to read paper books from the digital library Raz-Kids and the HCIS Sokcho Library. To improve children's reading comprehension, we use a program in which American schools read English books during ELA classes. They check their understanding of the books through online tests. To strengthen English reading fluency, we have implemented the R.E.D. (Read Every Day) system.
영어 학습에는 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기의 네 가지 주요 영역이 있다는 것은 널리 알려져 있습니다. 듣기와 말하기 능력은 언어 환경에 노출되면서 시간이 지나면서 향상될 수 있습니다. 그러나 읽기 및 쓰기 기술을 개발하려면 연습과 훈련이 필요합니다. 책을 읽는 것은 지식을 습득하는 좋은 방법일 뿐만 아니라 읽기 능력과 유창성을 향상시키는 좋은 방법이기도 합니다. 읽기 능력은 모든 학습을 뒷받침하는 중요한 역량입니다. 영어 독서 능력을 키우기 위해서는 온라인 독서 프로그램을 통한 독서 훈련과 종이책을 읽으면서 정독하는 과정을 병행합니다.
HCIS Sokcho에서는 학생들에게 디지털 도서관 Raz-Kids와 SIS 도서관에서 영어책을 읽도록 지도합니다. 어린이들의 Reading Comprehension을 향상시키기 위하여 미국학교에서 ELA시간에 읽는 영어도서를 정독하고 책에 대한 이해를 온라인테스트를 통하여 확인하는 프로그램을 사용합니다. 영어 읽기의 유창성을 위하여 R.E.D.(Read Every Day) 시스템으로 영어 읽기를 강화하고 있습니다.

Cultural Exchange Programs and International Study
Students at HCIS Sokcho who are in grade 3 and above have the opportunity to participate in a 3-week summer camp on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada alongside local Canadian children. The camp offers various activities such as recreation, sports, art, and drama, which provide an immersive English language experience, foster leadership and creativity, and promote friendship with Canadian children. This experience also helps prepare students for entering middle school and studying abroad.
3학년 이상의 HCIS Sokcho 학생들은 현지 캐나다 어린이들과 함께 캐나다 BC 주 밴쿠버 섬에서 3주간의 여름 캠프에 참가할 수 있는 기회를 갖습니다. 캠프에서는 몰입형 영어 경험을 제공하고 리더십과 창의성을 키우며 캐나다 어린이들과의 우정을 증진하는 레크리에이션, 스포츠, 예술, 드라마 등 다양한 활동을 제공합니다. 이 경험은 또한 학생들이 중학교 입학과 해외 유학을 준비하는데 도움이 됩니다.
Camp Narnia offers week-long summer camp programs for children ages six to fifteen. It is a community-focused summer camp on Vancouver Island that fosters creativity, friendships, and skill development.

Special class for students residing in Sokcho who returned to Korean public schools
After completing the English immersion elementary course at HCIS Sokcho, Korean students who return to public schools can take an English Language Arts course with a native-speaking teacher. These classes are held after regular classes at the Korean school. Depending on the stage of study, Korean teachers may also help students prepare for grammar and English certification exams. The goal of this course is to enhance the effectiveness of English immersion education that students receive in their early years and to prepare them for college entrance exams. Additionally, it helps expand the career paths of future students.
한국공립학교로 복귀한 속초거주학생들을 위한 특별반
HCIS Sokcho에서 영어몰입 초등과정을 수료 후 한국공립학교로 복귀한 학생들을 위하여 한국학교 수업후에 ELA과정을 원어민교사수업으로 진행하고 있습니다. 학습단계에 따라 한국인교사의 문법 및 영어공인시험 준비를 병행하는 시기도 있습니다. 이 수업은 초등저학년까지 학습한 영어몰입교육의 효과를 극대화하여 대학입시와 미래의 학생들의 진로를 확장하기 위함입니다.
